Interactive Television (iTV) & Video Conferencing
ITL schedules and coordinates the use of Tandberg Video Conferencing
systems for delivery of credit and non-credit distance learning
courses.
Video conferencing facilities are located at the Storrs campus,
as well as the regional campuses. The video conferencing systems
allow ITL to connect one or more sites regionally, nationally, and
internationally for scheduled classes, administrative meetings and
grant related conferences. This newer technology allows for ISDN
and/or IP connections to many sites.
The DL program is comprised of ITV equipped classroom(s) on the
Storrs campus and all five regional UConn Campuses (see locations
and seating capacities below). All rooms are capable of point-to-point
IP connections and utilize H.239 technology, which allow instructors
to send their camera image and course content (i.e. Power Point
presentation) simultaneously. All Storrs rooms, both Waterbury rooms,
AP 309, WH 101, and Stamford 312 are ISDN (digital telephone) capable
a well. A bridge device also allows us to create multipoint conferences
with up to 19 IP and 10 ISDN participants (mixed modes of connection
are supported)
All instructors who wish to teach a DL course are encouraged to
contact IDD two semesters prior. The DL rooms can
also be scheduled for non-course video conferences (to request a
non-course video conference in CUE rooms 320 or 321 use the link
to the left, for all other rooms contact the campuses registrar).
The ITL professional staff members are ready to train people, schedule,
and facilitate the use of the rooms or equipment needed for distance
learning and/or video conferencing.
To schedule or discuss the use of these facilities please contact
Steve Fletcher at 860-486-6540 or email him at dl@uconn.edu.
